Greetings,
We are seeking to fill the Chief Scientist position for the 2026 re-occupation of the GO-SHIP (https://usgoship.ucsd.edu and http://www.go-ship.org) zonal line known as P04E – a Pacific Ocean hydrographic transect along ~9.5°N from Costa Rica to the Marshall Islands.

For this Chief Scientist position, we are looking for scientists and/or technicians with experience in physical and/or biochemical oceanography (hydrography) and in oceanographic expedition organization. Preferred candidates will have previous experience with organizing and executing oceanographic field studies (particularly in the Pacific Ocean) and/or will have been a Chief or Co-Chief Scientist or a Principal Investigator for a previous US GO-SHIP cruise.

PARTICULARS:
• We will be sailing on the R/V Roger Revelle
• 52 days at sea + 6 days in ports
• Load – Puerto Rico (mid-Feb)
• Personnel board – either in Puntarenas, Costa Rica or somewhere closer to the Panama Canal (early March)
• Personnel disembark – Majuro, Marshall Islands (late April)
• Offload – US Navy Port in Guam (early May)

Track with station positions for the 1989 occupation of P04W, P04C, and P04E from west to east. The 2026 occupation of P04E will run from east to west and include positions to at least midway along the 1989 P04C line.
