Greetings,
We are seeking to fill the Chief Scientist position for the 2026 re-occupation of the GO-SHIP (https://usgoship.ucsd.edu and http://www.go-ship.org) zonal line known as P04E – a Pacific Ocean hydrographic transect along ~9.5°N from Costa Rica to the Marshall Islands.
For this Chief Scientist position, we are looking for scientists and/or technicians with experience in physical and/or biochemical oceanography (hydrography) and in oceanographic expedition organization. Preferred candidates will have previous experience with organizing and executing oceanographic field studies (particularly in the Pacific Ocean) and/or will have been a Chief or Co-Chief Scientist or a Principal Investigator for a previous US GO-SHIP cruise.
PARTICULARS (all details are tentative):
• We will be sailing on the R/V Roger Revelle
• ~52 days at sea + ~6 days in ports
• Load – Puerto Rico (mid-Feb)
• Personnel board – TBD, either Puntarenas, Costa Rica or Panama City, Panama (early March)
• Personnel disembark – Majuro, Marshall Islands (late April)
• Offload – US Navy Port in Guam (early May)
