The chief scientist is expected to have prior experience as a GO-SHIP Chief Scientist or Co-Chief Scientist, or equivalent sea-going responsibilities. Preference will be given to those with GO-SHIP experience. Chief Scientists on NOAA-funded cruises are generally NOAA employees or contractors.
